The SOPHIC Care range is rewriting what sustainable beauty looks like

The beauty is in the bottle: new sustainable beauty brand incorporates VB stubbies into its supply chain

Designed with the future of haircare front-of-mind, and a surprisingly familiar bottle, SOPHIC, a sustainable Australian haircare brand has launched its first consumer range, SOPHIC Care. The new hair range includes cleansers, conditioners, treatments, body cleanser, and general hair care products, all of which have been developed with their impact from a social, environmental, ecological and political perspective front-of-mind.

From sourcing local Australian ingredients to carbon neutral shipping, SOPHIC takes sustainable beauty to the next level, leading the way in terms of what is possible when it comes to hair care.

The stunning SOPHIC Care range reflects the Australian landscape and lifestyle in which it has been created. Taking a modern twist on the iconic VB stubby, the cleansers are housed in recycled glass beer bottles, while the hair treatment products are contained in recycled, reusable aluminium tins, all of which can be recycled again. The aesthetic packaging encapsulates a premium and sustainable product that looks good in any home.

The SOPHIC Care range caters to a variety of hair care needs including volume, curls, moisture and protein. The collection starts from $44.95 for conditioners, to $49.95 for cleansers (or shampoo), and $58.95 for treatments. In addition, SOPHIC also offers a hand and body wash for $49,95, and hair brushes and combs, ranging from $29.95 to $65.40.

With a commitment to minimising its carbon footprint, and supporting local business, all manufacturing of SOPHIC is done within a 50 kilometres radius of its Brisbane-based headquarters.

SOPHIC considers the source of each ingredient, meaning each product in the range has a minimum of 95% naturally derived ingredients. From Australian natives like Quandong and Lemon Myrtle Leaf Oil to natural remedies including Hemp Seed Oil, every ingredient is ranked and chosen based on its EWG’s Skin Deep score. Each product in the range is also free from any synthetic fragrances, sulfates, silicones, artificial colourants, petrochemicals, parabens, propolyne glycol (PEG) & phthalates, as well as being 100% vegan and cruelty free.

“The beauty industry isn’t going anywhere, but the way it has operated for the past few decades – with a dependence on harmful chemicals and extremely long supply chains – isn’t sustainable. Our team is a group of forward-thinking individuals demanding change within the hair and beauty industry – people who also share a love for our country. When you buy SOPHIC, you’re supporting the creation of a more localised and responsible industry – and a healthier future for people and the planet.” says Amanda Thompson, Founder of SOPHIC and Eco Salon Supplies.

As a subsidiary of Eco Salon Supplies, Australia & New Zealand’s largest niche distributor of cleaner, greener & organic alternatives for the hair & beauty industry, SOPHIC takes a rigorous approach to sustainability: questioning the social, environmental and ecological impact of every decision. As a result, its latest range is set to become a leader in the clean beauty space.

SOPHIC has been selected as finalists in the 2022 Clean and Conscious Awards for three of their latest products: SOPHIC Moisture TreatmentSOPHIC Moisture Cleanser and the SOPHIC Hand & Body Cleanser
