Championing Balance: Claudia Puglia's Perspective on Career and Family

  • Written by Claudia Puglia, Senior National Account Executive at FedEx

Mother's Day is a time to celebrate and honour the incredible women who have shaped our lives. For many, including myself, this celebration is a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between motherhood and career.

Motherhood is a journey marked by selflessness, unconditional love, and unwavering dedication. It is a journey filled with both joy and challenges, but one that is undoubtedly transformative.

As a mother myself, I understand the profound impact motherhood has on a woman's life. From the moment we first hold our child in our arms, we are forever changed. We become nurturers, teachers, and the ultimate protectors of our children. Our days are filled with laughter, tears, and countless moments that shape the lives of our little ones.

Yet, motherhood is not without its challenges. It requires endless patience, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to putting the needs of our children above our own. It means late nights and early mornings, juggling work, household chores, and countless other responsibilities, all while ensuring our children feel loved and supported.

Motherhood, especially with twins, has been a journey filled with both joy and challenges. Some days, it feels like I'm juggling everything at once. Despite the recent health challenges my twins have faced, motherhood continues to bless me with heartwarming moments. Witnessing their resilience and courage in the face of adversity fills me with immense pride and gratitude. It's these small victories that remind me of the strength and love that bind us together as a family.

Balancing career and family is no easy feat, and I've been fortunate to experience such support at FedEx. Whether it's making temporary adjustments to my work hours or having the option to work remotely on some days during the week in my sales role, this flexibility has allowed me to be there for my family when they need me the most. The company's commitment to work-life balance and its supportive culture have made all the difference in my ability to manage both my professional responsibilities and my role as a mother of twins.

Moreover, the understanding and empathy shown by my colleagues and superiors have been instrumental. When faced with personal challenges, such as my twins' health issues, I've been able to lean on my team for support. Knowing that I have the backing of my colleagues and managers has alleviated much of the stress that comes with managing dual responsibilities.

The ability to balance career and family shouldn't be a privilege afforded to a select few; it should be a fundamental right for all. I’m happy to work for a company that recognises the importance of supporting working parents and is committed to creating an environment where team members can thrive both personally and professionally.

This Mother's Day, let us take a moment to celebrate women-- whether it's our own mothers, grandmothers, or mother figures, let us express our gratitude for their love, guidance, and unwavering support.

To all the mothers out there, I salute you. Your love knows no bounds, and your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. You are the heart and soul of your family, and the world is a better place because of you.
