Modibodi launches the ‘Period Collective’ to help end period inequality in Australia
Global absorbent apparel brand, Modibodi®, continues to cement its position as a leader in the sustainability and social impact sector with its latest project, the Modibodi Period Collective.
Over 60% of Gen Z and Millennials, approximately 6 million women and girls in Australia, have found it difficult to access and afford period products when they need them*, leading to tough choices between food and essentials*. This monthly challenge can mean missing school, work, not participating in social activities and can cause anxiety.
The Modibodi Period Collective is an Australia-wide project between Stars Foundation, Thread Together, Women’s Health Tasmania and Modibodi to provide a reusable period underwear to people who lack access to period products and need them most. The goal of the project is to increase access to reusable period products and help end period inequality across Australia.
To drive the Period Collective to success, Modibodi has partnered with i=Change, an online platform used by retailers to engage their customers in meaningful change. Brands add the i=Change portal to their online store so that when a customer is completing their purchase, they can choose to donate to the Modibodi Period Collective and help end period poverty.
Kerry Cusack, Modibodi Executive Director said: “We have created the Modibodi Period Collective as a model for greater social impact collaboration. By working together with charity partners, and brands through i=Change, we are excited to be able to increase the amount of funds raised and reusable bundles donated, so that we can ensure more people have access to the period care they need.
“We would love to encourage other retailers to join us and utilise i=Change, offering the Modibodi Period Collective as a donation option, helping us collectively end period inequality in Australia.”
Brands interested in working with their customers to make impact should contact i=Change. Modibodi will host the Modibodi Period Collective on their Australian website at modibodi.com.
